BEYOND THE PITCH
Life in Full Color
I’m 50 years old, married with two grown-up kids. I’ve travelled the world with a curious mind and I love working with people and within teams. Sport, especially soccer, still plays a massive role in my life and fuels my competitiveness. I’m active and a keen amateur cyclist who qualified for the Gran Fondo World Championships. When I’m not moving, you’ll usually find me cooking or painting.
My PHILOSOPHY
From the Pitch to the Podium
Seventeen years as a professional footballer teaches you a lot about talent — and even more about what talent alone can’t do. Across 101 caps for Denmark and 364 Premier League appearances with Sunderland, Aston Villa, and Stoke City, the difference between the players who had long, successful careers and those who faded early was rarely ability. It was something smaller, harder to coach, and far more decisive.
“The first 98% is talent and hard work. The last 2% — how you handle pressure, relationships, timing, and setbacks — is what actually decides the outcome.”
That idea became The Last 2%. After stepping away from playing, this philosophy carried naturally into broadcasting, keynote speaking, and mentoring the next generation of athletes. What started as a pattern I kept noticing has become a framework used with corporate teams, school students, and young players who are all chasing the same thing: the edge that gets you not just to the top, but keeps you there.

Why This Work Matters
There’s a specific kind of energy in a room when people realize the gap they’re trying to close isn’t about working harder—it’s about working smarter on the things nobody talks about. Watching a sales team walk out of a workshop with a new way to handle pressure, or a group of students stand a little taller after hearing that resilience can be built, not just born with—that’s the payoff. This work sits at the intersection of two decades of professional sport and a genuine belief that anyone, in any field, can find their own last 2%.
